Team

Yasu Hirai Fukuoka OLY
CEO

Yasu is one of Japan’s most influential open water swimmers, particularly excelling in the 10km event. His dedication and continuous evolution have sustained a remarkable international career spanning over a decade, with plans to continue representing the Japanese National Swimming Team.

Yasu earned a spot on the Japanese Olympic Team for the 2012 London Olympics, making history as Japan’s first-ever Olympic open water swimmer and finishing 15th in the 10km event. At the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, he delivered an impressive performance, finishing 8th in the 10km race, just 4.8 seconds behind the gold medalist.

Throughout his professional career, Yasu managed his own training, collaborating with various national teams, including those of Sweden, the Netherlands, France, and Germany. His Olympic journey has taken him to over 30 countries, establishing himself as a true global citizen.

After retiring from competitive swimming in January 2020, Yasu moved to Bondi Beach in April 2023. During this time, he worked with Apta Group, a boutique buyout fund in Sydney, and coached swimming at both NSWU and Sydney University.

A chance encounter with the Bondi Salties community reignited his passion for the sport, inspiring him to sign a professional athlete contract with a Japanese public IT company to compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
